IN THE EVENT THERE IS NO NFL SEASON in 2020
1. Contracts
2. League Dues
3. Future (2021) Rookie draft
We will consider any partial NFL season as a full fantasy season for our league based on the following criteria:
1) If the NFL determines sufficient games are played to calculate playoff eligibility in real life.
2) If we are able to play sufficient fantasy games to determine playoff eligibility and crown a champion in our league (minimum 8 regular season weeks with full NFL participation). The fantasy schedule will be determined based on NFL schedule (planned or adjusted).
The main point is if we can have a full playoff and a champion, this will have been considered a full year.
1. Contracts
a. In the event of a full year (see note above for clarification of a full season) all contracts will progress as normal. Each contract will progress in term at the end of the year
Example: If David Johnson has a contract of 5 million for 2020 and it is the last year of his contract, he will be a UFA at the conclusion of the 2020 season - as per normal rules of this format
b. In the event of a cancelled NFL season where we are unable to hold the playoffs and crown a champion, all contracts will freeze. No movement in any player's contract will progress.
Example: If David Johnson has a contract of 5 million for 2020 and it is the last year of his contract, he will begin 2021 with a contract of 5 million for the 2021 season with the intention that at the end of the 2021 season he will be scheduled to become a UFA.
In the event of option b. happening and all contracts are frozen, each team will be given one compliance (free) buy out to be used on any one player on their team, for the year of 2020. No matter the price of the contract.
Example: If Alshon Jeffrey has a contract of 12 million for three years left (2020, 2021 and 2022), a team can choose to use their compliance buy out on Alshon Jeffrey for the year 2020. Then, the contract will reflect having only two years left of term, instead of the original three years.
2. League Dues
a. In the event of a full year (see note above for clarification of a full season) all league dues will be collected and pay outs to winners will occur as they normally would.
b. In the event of a cancelled NFL season where we are unable to hold the playoffs and crown a champion, all league dues already collected will be rolled over to 2021. No league dues will be re-collected for the 2021 season.
In the event of option b. happening and all league dues are rolled over, we will still ask for MFL league hosting fees from each team for the 2021 season.
3. Future (2021) Rookie draft
a. In the event of a full year (see note above for clarification of a full season), the 2021 rookie draft will continue as normal. The draft order will be set based on our by-law criteria as it normally would.
b. In the event of a cancelled season, a formula will be developed to quantify each players roster to determine rookie draft values for pick seeding. Pick seeding will then be subject to a lottery based on these values.
This formula has yet to be properly 100% fleshed out but likely will revolve around 2019 player production averaged with 2021 ADP values. More to come on how the lottery system will work.
This formula and lottery will take place right before the 2021 Rookie draft in order to account for all roster moves made from now until the 2021 rookie draft.
NOTES:
In the event of a cancelled NFL season, dropping and adding players will be open year round. UFA/RFA period for 2021 will not be applicable since all contracts will not have progressed.
